Turning Two

Isaac turned two on May 22nd.  So, we of course had a party.

We invited some family to help us celebrate.
We had food.  {hamburgers, hotdogs, Nana's potato salad, Pioneer Woman's baked beans, Mommy's 12 layer jello, and a yummy strawberry, avacado salad}
We decorated the "barn" (garage) and rounded up some farm toys.(which was easy)
We had a DQ ice cream cake and sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy but he wanted nothing of it.  Poor guy got interrupted doing his "business" and just needed some more privacy & time.
So, after getting the job done and feeling much better he was off to play with his new ride.
Then, in true two year old style he hijacked a bottle of the girls nail polish and got it opened and managed to fling red nail polish all over his face, my pants, my shirt and my camera.  So, Pops & Daddy went to work getting the nail polish off his face.  It wasn't a pleasant scene.
And after that debacle he was back in business with a good ole' game of hide and seek and playtime on the new swing set.
I "think" Isaac had a good birthday party.
I know Momma said there'd be days like this.

Topeka Day of Fun

This past weekend we met KC & Manhattan friends in the middle- in Topeka- for a day of fun.
It's fun to see how far we've come.  6 years ago- we were nothing but a bunch of DINKS (double income no kids) now we are parents to a bunch of little kids- ages 5 1/2 to 8 months.  We used to sit and eat good meals with a glass of wine, talk and laugh for hours, now we are lucky to get a conversation started  & finished without several interruptions.  It was a fantastic day and the kids and adults all had a blast without any major breakdowns- which is considered a big success!  Probably why this group clicks so much is because we know how to have fun with kids- like our day on Saturday but we also know how important it is to just be adults and friends together without our little ones.  So, I can guarentee that our next event together will be one sans kids where we can sit, eat, drink and laugh like the good ole' days.

The first animal sighting- 3 giraffes.  Momma, Daddy & baby.
 Here's the crew.
 Brother & Sister
 Acting like monkeys.
 Cheese!
After the zoo we had a picnic lunch.
Then rode the Gage Park Mini Train.  These are the four oldest, Nate is the big man on campus, then comes Georgia, then Zella and 6 weeks after Zella was born Audrey came on board.
Here's Ike on the Mini Train.  He just loved his ride.  Best dollar twenty five I've spent in a long time.
What a day!  What a crew!  What memories!

Preschool Program

The end of year preschool program and graduation for the older kids was last week.  Audrey was very excited for this night and it was just so cute to hear all their songs.  My favorite was a song about how God made me special and how God is great!
The kids singing "Zacchaeus was a Wee Little Man"
Audrey showing her certificate for perfect attendance.
One more day of preschool this week and she is done till the fall.  I know she will miss preschool a lot but hopefully the pool will fill this void!

Pregnancy Dreams

I sleep well when I'm pregnant- guess I'm just that worn out.  I do, however, dream and dream a lot!
Last night I had two "interesting" dreams.
First I dreamt that I was on a never ending trip to Walmart.  It was torture. I really dislike going to Walmart on a good day and a short list. So, this was not a pleasant dream in the least.

Then, I had a dream that I was growing sunflower seeds out of my right ear. I would pick them out and they would KEEP GROWING. It was totally gross and very disturbing.

I wish I would have more dreams about the new baby in my belly.  I had one at 14 weeks and it was just a dream about having a baby girl.  I told Chris about my dream because it was a definite girl that we had so it was fun to find out 4 weeks later that my dream was right and we were having a girl.  Now, let's just hope I don't have any dreams about giving birth to baby snakes like I did when I was pregnant with Isaac.

Cousins in Cowboy Boots

For Easter Mima & Pops took the kids to a PBR Bull Riding competition at Sprint Center.  And they said the parents could tag along- so we did.
It was a fun day at the Power & Light District and really cool seeing live bull riding!
Here is the kid clan before going to the Sprint Center.

A evening at the lake

A couple weeks ago we spent the evening at the "old" lake.  We had a picnic supper and played and explored- the perfect night in the eyes of 6 little people under 6 and 6 adults older than that.  We....

threw rocks and more rocks.
played with sticks in the water.
found a baby snake which Isaac LOVED
and so did Izzy.
Pops put the snake in a cup for awhile and Ike had to hold the cup and watch the little guy.
We took a ride around part of the lake in the back of the truck .  I really thought the kids were going to burst with excitement because they were riding in the back with NO seatbelts.
One last meeting with Mr. Snake, Pops and the kids before letting the snake go.
 Bye bye Mr. Snake!
It was a great night full of simple things- a picnic, throwing rocks, playing with sticks and riding in the back of a truck.  It was simple, sweet fun enjoyed by all.

Mothering

Even though many days are tough and I loose my patience, I yell, I almost unglue and I want to scream
I LOVE being this girls Momma
 and this boys Momma.
I love my role as their Mother.

Then & Now

This is Audrey at 17 months in a Colorado cabin on vacation.  This was Mommy & Daddy's idea to bathe her in the sink because we only had a shower.

This is Audrey just the other day and this was HER idea.  She wanted to wash her feet because they were dirty from being outside (yes, she likes clean feet just like her Mother) and she ended up naked and taking a bath in the sink.  I was in the kitchen and I heard Chris say "come here and bring the camera!"

All Boy

Things all Boy.
Yes, that's Isaac's little head up there.  Pops was getting a round bale ready to load and Isaac was pretending to drive.
 Isaac on the little tractor.
Checking out the Momma Cows with their new calves.
There's a big building going up in town with lots of cool equipment.  Twice now we've gone and sat in the van and just watched the construction site.  A little boys dream to see big equipment up close and working.
And all things boy- making messes.  I was being a nice Mom and letting him eat out of a newly opened box of crackers on the way home from Walmart one day and it was going very well until he spilled (this was no accident!) the entire box all over him, the carseat and the floor.  So, instead of blowing a gasket I stopped the car, took a picture and picked up what I could.
